Fall in love with Fall Birthdays.

Yes, I had to use an incredibly cheesy fall title.

I already get to celebrate 3 birthdays in September – a wonderful cousin who turned 17, my very first nephew (I have 6 nephews!) who turns 5, and my boys’ babysitter turned the big 21. Time flies… as do the seasons which brings me toooooooo - FALL BIRTHDAYS!

I’m thinking cozy, memorable, and useful for fall birthdays. Fall is such a wonderful transition time where we say a bittersweet goodbye to summer while slowly wading into the busy but special season of school and holidays (I also like to use the fall season to prepare for The Winter That Never Ends now that we live in North Dakota). I share a few gift suggestions below, but of course this is going to depend on the person and your relationship with that person (e.g. probably don’t gift your neighbor who you hardly know a bidet). I’m always here to help, so if you’re looking for someone in particular and these suggestions don’t speak to you – please reach out!

  • The gift of nostalgia, experience, and memories with a modern Polaroid camera is such a great gift for just about anyone of any age and interest. I have one and it’s amazing – always a hit! Fujifilm also makes a smaller version of the instant print, Polaroid-style called the Instax Mini. Please make this a complete gift by including an extra pack or two of film! You could take it even a step further and include an album in which they can keep some of the photos they take (the one linked here is for the Instax Mini).

  • By now you’ve seen The Styled Collection butter-soft blankets all over your IG feed, but they truly are amazingly soft and cozy. While some gifts can be overdone (hello 8 pairs of fuzzy socks for Christmas), one can never have enough blankets (scientifically proven by me, obvs). There’s a print for everyone – guys, gals, and kiddos. If you don’t want to order online, there are a ton of great super butter-soft blankets like these at Target, Walmart, Home Goods, etc. now.

  • Not cozy, but memorable for sure – CONCERT TICKETS. I think it could go unsaid, but I’ll say it anyway… it works if you know some of their preferred music, bands, and artists. Think outside of the box here… orchestra, smaller local performances, etc. are also a possibility! Concert tickets are typically for a higher budget, and I would recommend 2 tickets, not a single ticket, because I don’t know many people who would prefer to go to a concert alone. It’s okay if the dates are after their actual birthday (even months after) because it gives them time to plan, just make sure to opt for a physical ticket for your person to unwrap.

  • A bidet. I know, I know but just heart me out! A bidet is comfort in its own special way. In being transparent, I’ll admit that I haven’t done research on what model or brand is the absolute best so that’s on you (Tushy from Amazon < pictured and > linked here) – but, I have used a few of the popular brands and they are wonderful. Including installation would be an awesome addition (the videos make it look easy but let’s be real here) to make this a complete gift *and so it doesn’t sit under their bathroom counter waiting to be installed for 8 months. Who would I gift a bidet to, you ask?! Either one of my sisters. My mother. My best friend. My grandparents. My husband (what’s his is also mine).

  • New shoes. There are ways to be sneaky about finding out someone’s shoe size which I imagine you can figure out (but if you can’t, get in touch). Hey Dudes are my favorite. They’re trendy, go with just about anything, come in tons of colors, and I can personally verify that they are comfy af. The typical and can’t-go-wrong style is the Wendy (I love the grey leopard print) for women and the Wally for men. I also LOVE some Birkenstock’s - definitely more on the pricey side, but so worth it.

  • This will be the first of many pleas that you will find throughout my blog posts regarding gifts for kids - can we please put a stop to the loud, bright, noisy, battery-operated, lose their play appeal or get thrown away within 2 weeks toys?! Moving on. A great gift for littles is a balance board. It encourages imagination, physical movement, balance, coordination, and open play. It’s easy to store in a closet or under a bed when not in use. No link for this one because there are SO many. They’re all wonderful. My boys have the Kinderfeet brand and love it. We race cars down it, we use it as part of an obstacle course, we slide down it, we rock on it, we have balancing contests. It’s a wonderful non-toy “toy” option!

  • Looking for bigger kids? Find out what the coolest and newest book series is and get them a new book! My 6th grader is really into the Percy Jackson series right now. Look on Barnes and Noble recommendations by age or check out Amazon’s “Best Books by Age” for guidance. A reading light, bookmark (my sister makes some great kids bookmarks over at Be Kind Bookmarks), and a comfy pillow would make this gift complete, comfy, and a pinch more thoughtful. It will also be a hit with any tween - even those who prefer gaming over reading.

  • I saved one of my favorites for last -quality leather goods! Seriously. SO GOOD and, honestly, such a fall vibe. You will find it linked and pictured because they are seriously one of my absolute favorite leather brands - Portland Leather Goods. There is something for everyone and at a great price point for quality leather. One of my personal favorites is their circular bag. I pictured their Deluxe Dopp Kit here because it makes a great gift for a guy or gal. Belts, wallets, backpacks, purses, pouches… Take inspiration from their array of products and figure out what would be the most useful, best piece of leather for your intended recipient. FYI, I’m not sponsored by Portland Leather (or by anyone for that matter), they’re just a personal favorite company of mine.

Best Wishes and Warmest Regards,

Em
